Mīļā KBLS Saime!!

Dear School Family,
We hope that your week has been going well!
We need to ask that everyone model respect for teachers and kitchen volunteers – please report student absences thru the school website. Last Saturday 26 students were absent from school, but only 10 absences had been reported. One teacher was left without a single student. The 8th grade parents provided hot lunch based on reported numbers, and a lot of food went to waste.
No school March 4th due to the ski trip. Best of luck to all of the skiers!
The ALA (American Latvian Association) language level assessments will take place at school on March 11th. Only 8th graders and high school students will be taking these exams. Please remind students to bring a device on which to take the digital exam (laptop/ iPad preferred…mobile phones are much harder). If a student from grades 8 and high school will be absent on March 11th, please let the homeroom teacher(s) know right away.
This week, Evita Gailuma, Dženija Hounihan, Krista Laukmane-Schmidt and Gundega Puidza are on volunteering to make lunch.
The cafeteria is open during the school day for parents to socialize, and enjoy a cup of coffee! Please sign-up for kitchen duty at least one upcoming Saturday on Sign Up Genius.
Chicago will be hosting an art weekend the 25th and 26th of March. During this time, we will also be having an exhibition of the school kids works. We have let them know to turn in projects by the end of February. All types of art are welcome
Reminder to read! The Rumaka reading competition as started! Find more info here.
Yours,
